How to make Shepherd's pie recipe with cheese?
Here is the
recipe of Shepherd’s Pie recipe with cheese.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2-3 carrots, peeled and chopped
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
sauce
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4-5 cups mashed potatoes
(homemade or store-bought)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F
(190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the
ground beef or lamb over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until no
longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the onion, carrots, and
garlic to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7
minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste,
Worcestershire sauce, and beef or vegetable broth. Bring the mixture to a
boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the sauce
has thickened.
- Add the frozen peas and parsley
to the skillet and mix to consolidate. Season with salt and pepper, to
taste.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a
9x13 inch baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top of
the beef mixture, making sure to cover it completely.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar
cheese over the top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake the shepherd's pie for
20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the mashed
potatoes are lightly browned.
- Let the shepherd's pie cool for
a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
