How to make sheer khurma at home?
Sheer Khurma
is a rich and creamy dessert that is traditionally prepared during the Islamic
festival of Eid-ul-Fitr. It is a sweet vermicelli pudding made with milk,
sugar, vermicelli, and nuts. Here is a simple recipe for Sheer Khurma that you
can try at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 liter full-fat milk
- 1 cup vermicelli (sevaiyan)
- 1/2 cup sugar (or as per taste)
- 1/2 cup hacked nuts (almonds,
pistachios, cashews, raisins)
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tbsp rose water
- 1 tbsp ghee
Instructions:
1.
Heat
ghee in a large pot and add vermicelli (sevaiyan). Broil it on low fire til it
becomes brilliant brown.
2.
Add
chopped nuts and continue to saute till they turn golden brown. Keep aside.
3.
In
the same pot, pour in the milk and bring it to a boil.
4.
Add
sugar and mix until it breaks up totally.
5.
Add
roasted vermicelli and nuts, and mix well.
6.
Add
cardamom powder and rose water and continue to stir occasionally.
7.
Allow
the mixture to simmer on low flame for about 10-15 minutes or until the
vermicelli is cooked and the milk thickens to a creamy consistency.
8.
Switch
off the intensity and let the sheer khurma cool down.
9.
Garnish
with some more chopped nuts and serve it chilled or at room temperature.
