How to make Mee Goreng recipe at home?
Mee Goreng
Mamak is a popular Malaysian dish that is usually sold by Indian Muslim street
vendors, known as Mamak. It is a delicious stir-fried noodle dish that is
typically made with egg noodles, shrimp, tofu, and vegetables. Here is a recipe
for Mee Goreng Mamak that you can easily make at home:
Ingredients:
- 400g egg noodles, cooked and
drained
- 200g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 150g firm tofu, diced
- 2 cups bean sprouts
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-2 green chilies, sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp chili paste
- 1 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2-3 stalks green onion, chopped
- Lime wedges for serving
- Fried shallots for garnish
(optional)
Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a wok over high
intensity. Add the shrimp and stir-fry until pink, then remove from the
wok and set aside.
- Add the onion, garlic, and green
chilies to the wok and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the tofu, bean sprouts, and
half of the green onions.pan sear for a couple of moments until the
vegetables are marginally mellowed.
- Add the cooked egg noodles to
the wok and stir to combine with the vegetables.
- In a small bowl, mix together
the ketchup, dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, chili paste, curry powder,
sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour the sauce over the noodles and stir-fry
until everything is well combined and the noodles are evenly coated with
the sauce.
- Add the cooked shrimp to the wok
and stir-fry for a few more minutes until heated through.
- Transfer the Mee Goreng Mamak to
serving plates and garnish with the remaining green onions and fried
shallots, if using. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
