What is the recipe of Chana Chaat?
Here's a recipe for chana chaat, a popular street food snack in South Asia:
Ingredients:
- 1 can of chickpeas (15 oz or 425
g)
- 1 small red onion, finely
chopped
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- 1 small cucumber, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
(optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon tamarind chutney
(or substitute with lemon juice)
- 1 tablespoon mint chutney
(optional)
- Sev (crunchy fried noodles) or
papdi (fried crackers) for garnish
Instructions:
- Channel and flush the canned
chickpeas in a colander. Add them to a mixing bowl.
- Add the finely chopped red
onion, tomato, cucumber, green chili, and cilantro to the bowl with the
chickpeas.
- Sprinkle chaat masala, cumin
powder, red chili powder, and salt over the ingredients in the mixing
bowl.
- Add tamarind chutney and mint
chutney (if using) to the bowl and mix all the ingredients together until
well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as
needed, adding more salt or spices if desired.
- Serve the chana chaat in bowls
or plates and garnish with sev or papdi. Enjoy your delicious chana chaat!
