MOMOS
Momos are a type of steamed
dumpling that are a popular snack in Nepal, Tibet, and parts of India. Here's a
simple recipe for vegetable momos:
Ingredients:
- 2
cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2
teaspoon salt
- 1
tablespoon vegetable oil
- Water,
as needed
- 1
cup finely chopped vegetables (cabbage, carrot, onion, mushroom, etc.)
- 2
cloves garlic, minced
- 1
inch ginger, grated
- 1
tablespoon soy sauce
- 1
tablespoon oil
- Salt
and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1.
In a huge blending bowl,consolidate the
flour,salt and oil. Gradually add water and knead until you have a smooth and
elastic dough. Cover the batter and let it rest for 30 minutes.

In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the garlic and
ginger until fragrant. Add the chopped vegetables and stir-fry for a few
minutes until they are soft.

Add soy sauce, salt, and pepper to the
vegetable mixture and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Eliminate from intensity
and let it cool.

Divide the dough into small equal portions and
roll each one into a thin circle. Cut each circle into 3-inch diameter circles.
5.
Place a spoonful of the vegetable mixture in
the center of each circle. Bring the edges of the circle together and pinch
them to form pleats, making sure that the momos are completely sealed.
6.
Place the momos in a steamer basket and steam
for 8-10 minutes, until they are fully cooked and the dough is translucent.
7.
Serve the momos hot with a spicy dipping sauce
made with soy sauce, chili sauce, and vinegar.
