Lasagna

                                                    LASAGNA


Lasagna Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

1.     Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2.     Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and rinse in cold water.

3.     In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the meat is no longer pink. Drain off any excess fat.

4.     Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Heat to the point of boiling,then lessen intensity and stew for 30 minutes,blending infrequently.

5.     In a separate bowl, mix together the mozzarella cheese, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and parsley.

6.     Spread a far layer of a meat sauce on the lower part of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread one-third of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat the layers twice more, ending with a layer of meat sauce.

7.     Cover the baking dish with foil and prepare for 25 minutes.Eliminate the foil and prepare for 25 extra minutes,or until the cheddar is liquefied and the lasagna is warmed through.

8.     Allow the lasagna to rest for 10 minutes prior to cutting and serving.Enjoy!
