                   Fruit Trifle


Fruit Trifle Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 cups of mixed fresh fruits (such as berries, sliced peaches, kiwi, etc.)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 package (10 oz) of ladyfingers or sponge cake
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • Optional: additional fruit, nuts, or whipped cream for garnish

Instructions:

1.     Prepare the fruit by washing, drying and slicing them as desired.

2.     In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, water and lemon juice. Cook over medium intensity,mixing continually,until the sugar has broken.Remove from heat and let cool.

3.     Place a layer of the ladyfingers or sponge cake at the bottom of a trifle dish.

4.     Spoon half of the fruit over the ladyfingers or sponge cake, and then drizzle half of the sugar syrup over the fruit.

5.     Repeat with another layer of the ladyfingers or sponge cake, fruit, and sugar syrup.

6.     In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream, yogurt, vanilla extract and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

7.     Spoon the mixture over the top of the trifle and spread it evenly.

8.     Cover the trifle and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to develop.

9.     Before serving, you can garnish the top with additional fruit, nuts, or whipped cream if desired.
